Jerome Harris is a graphic designer and art director with 10+ years of experience building brand identity systems and creative concepts for clients ranging from Serato to nonprofits like Housing Works and Civic Nation. He holds an MFA from Yale University and a BA from Temple University.
As, Not For: Dethroning Our Absolutes
As, Not For: Dethroning Our Absolutes is a touring exhibition curated that surveys a century of work by African-American graphic designers. First exhibited at the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2017, the show went on to appear at RISD, MCAD, UIC, Boston University, VCU, among other institutions through 2023. The exhibition was curated and installed in collaboration with students from each host university, who helped research, design, and mount every iteration. It was also accompanied by a public lecture and a zine-making workshop, developed in collaboration with Joshua Gamma and Emilia Duno. For Harris, inviting students and the general public to both view and engage with the work directly was vital to the exhibition’s mission and vision.
